Irish Rural Link Host Sustainable Tourism Multiplier Event

Irish Rural Link (IRL)– the national network representing the interest of rural communities will host its multiplier event on Sustainable Tourism as part of the SustainIt project on Wednesday 21st October at 10.30am.
IRL are one of 8 partners across 5 countries (Belgium, Cyprus, Iceland, Ireland and Spain) involved in SUSTAINIT- Sustainable Tourism Innovative Training- a co-funded 2-year project by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission. The project is near completion and this event will showcase the work accomplished throughout the project.
SUSTAINIT aims to reinforce capacities of European workers and professionals in the sustainable tourism sector to enhance their employability while reigniting the sectors’ growth and competitiveness. This will be done through the development of innovative, concrete and actionable training available on the dedicated Open Educational Resource (OER): http://www.sustainit.eu/
In addition to an overview of the project and the Intellectual Outputs, IRL will be joined for tomorrow’s event by; Mary Mulvey, Carrowcrin Consulting who will discuss sustainable tourism in Ireland; Joe Dolan, The Bush Hotel, Leitrim who will talk about putting sustainable tourism into practice and what changes the hotel has made to become more sustainable; Riccardo Di Marco, IDP European Consultants and one of the Italian partners speaking about ‘The Role of Sustainable Tourism in post-pandemic Europe.

Speaking about the webinar, Seamus Boland said “This event and project are very timely. The tourism and hospitality sector have been one of the most impacted by this pandemic and how we can equip businesses and tourism operators with skills to build back the sector more sustainably is extremely important.”

The event will be held on Zoom and will begin at 10.30 on the 21st October.
